North America’s drift competition sanctioning body, Formula Drift, has partnered with Red Bull to create the first world wide drift championship: the Red Bull Drifting World Championship.  The new championship will bring together 32 of the worlds best drifters on the 15th of November 2008 to decide the Drifting World Number Champion.

Driver from Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, United States and Canada will gather in the Docks at Long Beach California for the competition.  Current and past champions from the worlds top drift series will receive exclusive invites to the competition and the chance to win “the largest drifting prize purse ever”.

The drivers will compete on a purpose built course designed to test car and driver alike.  The course will feature a long straight to ensure high entry speeds on the first big sweeping turn and then onto a number of challenging technical turns.  The course should prove to be exciting for spectators who will be allowed to get close to the action.

Judging will be based on current Formula DRIFT rules and regulations with the possible addition of two international judges.
