Mazda are to introduce a new version of its Renesis rotary-engined Mazda RX-8, the RX-8 R3. Powered by an improved version of the 231ps twin-rotor engine, Mazda promise the new R3 will offer faster steering, chassis and engine responses, more refinement and more equipment.

Fiat are set to release a limited edition version of the Fiat 500 Abarth: the Fiat 500 “Opening Edition”. This limited edition model has a tweaked version of the Abarth turbocharged 1.4 engine that will produce 160bhp at 5750rpm and 230Nm of torque at 3000rpm.

I popped up to Knockhill at the weekend with some friends to watch the first Scottish Motor Racing Club event of the season. Our main reason for visiting was to see the Sports/Saloons races and two cars in particular. The old Ford Focus Built by Andy Gallacher and now owned and modified by Charlie Shaw and Andy Gallachers new car for this season: a spaced framed, 670bhp 4WD Ford Focus.
Ford recently announced a new version of their high performance Focus ST. Its badged as the ST500 and is based on the current range topping Focus ST-3, unfortunately the 500 in the name doesn’t refer to any extreme power hikes but rather thae fact that it is a limited run of 500 cars.
Today I received an email alerting me to a petion against section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002. Personally I was never aware that this law existed… essentially it gives any uniformed officer the power to issue you with a written warning and, on a subsequent occasion, the power to seize your vehicle. the officer does not even need to have proof in order to issue a warning or seize your car! Volkswagen unveiled an imressive new concept car at the Wörthersee festival in Austria last week. The VW Golf concept, known as the GTI W12 650, houses a mid engined 650PS (641bhp) W12 engine and if it goes into production it will be the fastest Golf ever produced by VW.
Audi UK published a press release on the 16th of May in which they pretty much confirm that they are considering putting the Audi TT Clubsport into production:
“The Audi TT clubsport quattro is a driving purist’s machine that’s still a TT, but shows just what can be done if you know how. A small-series production of this model is now being considered.”
It seems the first signs of improvement to the Aston Martin range have come from the David Richard’s and Investment Dar consortiums buyout. Prodrive has already been partnered with Aston Martin through GT Racing, but have now released a selection of after market upgrade packages to improve the performance and handling of the V8 Vantage.
